# C-Test at the University of Marburg: English placement

At the University of Marburg you take an online C-Test before registering for a General English course. The result arrives by email, and the university may ask you to retake it on site. Here are the facts from the language centre’s page.

## Rules

- Take the test on your own and without AI tools.
- The university may ask you to retake the test on site at the self-study centre. Otherwise your result is final.
- After a talk with the coordinator, your score can be adjusted by up to 7 points.
- Enter your personal data only with letters of the German alphabet, without umlauts, ß or accents.
- If the online test does not work for you technically, it is available as a Word file on request.

## What this means for your preparation

- Practising honestly counts twice here: if you test with help, you may be retested on site, and then the second test counts.
- Do the 5-minute practice test first. It shows you the interface, so you lose no time in the real test.
- The gap rule is the same as in the C-Test Prep texts, and so are the 25 minutes.
- If you are just below a level, talk to the coordinator: up to 7 points can be adjusted.
