## Rules

- The online test is compulsory for enrolment and meant as a self-test: it should show you the course that fits your level.
- Each text begins with a complete sentence; from the second sentence on, only about half of every second word is visible.
- In each gap you write exactly as many letters as are shown, or one more.
- Rostock states plainly that the "C" in the name does not stand for level C.

## What this means for your preparation

- Four texts of 25 gaps are exactly the 100 gaps of the C-Test Prep simulation. Rostock just gives no time; the simulation works with 25 minutes.
- In Rostock 60 points get you into C1.1 and 75 points into C1.2. If you fall just short, you start one module lower and can only retest next semester at the earliest.
- The "C-Test Englisch" page has a sample text about Hanseatic Rostock, with the answers. Solve it on paper before you start enrolling.
- Rostock’s rule of "as many letters as shown or one more" matches the C-Test Prep texts: there too, an odd-length word is missing one letter more than is shown.
